Busy Summer for Junior Golfers
The Bermuda Golf Association (BGA) has assembled a packed and promising summer schedule for its junior golfers, featuring participation in some of the most prestigious junior golf camps and tournaments across North America.
In the past week, Oliver Betschart and Sienna Mosquera competed in the North & South Junior Championships at the historic Pinehurst Resort in North Carolina. Pinehurst will continue to host Bermudians this summer, with Cole Graham, Fletcher Logie, and Lachlan Soutter scheduled to depart Bermuda on Sunday, July 6th for a week-long junior golf camp.
Later in the month, Arman Newton and Johnny Bart will also attend The Junior Golf Advanced Camp at Pinehurst from July 20th-25th in preparation for their participation in the Caribbean Amateur Junior Golf Championships (CAJGC), taking place July 27th-August 1st at the Grand Reserve Golf Club in Puerto Rico. Newton returns to the CAJGC after earning a silver medal in the Boys U15 Division in last year’s event in Kingston, Jamaica.
They will be joined in Puerto Rico by Lewis MacFarlane and Darina Betschart, rounding out Bermuda’s four-player squad. MacFarlane and Betschart will travel directly from the International Optimist Championships, held at the renowned Doral Golf Club in Miami.
Meanwhile, Oliver Betschart and Dylan Muso are set to compete in the Junior World Championships in the Boys 15-18 Division, hosted at the iconic Torrey Pines Golf Course in California from July 7th-10th. Both players will then compete at the International Optimist Junior Tournament from July 25th-30th, alongside fellow BGA juniors.
Capping off a busy summer, Betschart will go on to represent Bermuda at the Pan Am Junior Games in Paraguay from August 9th-23rd, showcasing his continued development on the international stage.
Finally, the BGA is proud to renew its longstanding partnership with the Canadian Junior Golf Association (CJGA), sending a team to compete in the North American Cup, which takes place at Lebovic Golf Club in Ontario, Canada from August 20th-23rd and participants to the Mizuno National Championships August 25th-28th at the Carlisle Golf Club.
