Growing Golf from the Ground Up

The Bermuda Golf Association (BGA) is committed to fostering grassroots golf development and enhancing access to high-quality coaching opportunities across the island. The Operation 36 program aligns seamlessly with a key pillar of the BGA’s LTAD strategy by providing a structured pathway for player development. It integrates beginner-friendly coaching with a progression-focused framework, ensuring that players of all ages can develop their skills while fostering a lifelong passion for golf. The program also supports the BGA’s player development pathways by creating accessible, inclusive opportunities for Bermudians to learn and thrive in the sport.

By prioritizing grassroots programming, the BGA and its partners are laying the foundation for a vibrant and sustainable golf culture across Bermuda. The introduction of certified Operation 36 professionals at every golf facility will be a critical milestone in achieving this vision.

To date, over 10 BPGA teaching professionals have completed the Operation 36 certification track, and three golf facilities in Bermuda are now offering beginner and junior golf programming powered by this curriculum. By March 2025, the BGA intends to have a fully certified Operation 36 golf teaching professional offering junior golf programming at each golf course and facility in Bermuda.

Operation 36 Golf Development Program

Operation 36 is a dynamic and innovative golf development program designed to introduce players of all skill levels to the game of golf in a structured, fun, and progressive manner. The program’s mission is to provide a clear pathway for players to advance their skills, foster a love for the sport, and achieve measurable success on the course.

Key Features:

• On-Course Progression: Players begin at a manageable 25-yard distance from the hole and progress in skill and distance as they meet scoring goals.
• Personalized Coaching: Certified Operation 36 coaches guide participants with tailored lesson plans, group training, and mentorship.
• Player-Centered Goals: The program focuses on developing core skills while challenging players to shoot a score of 36 (par) or better for nine holes.
• Community and Accountability: Participants join a supportive network of players and coaches, tracking their progress using the Operation 36 mobile app.

Who Can Join? Operation 36 is open to golfers of all ages and abilities, from beginners taking their first swing to experienced players looking to refine their skills. The program emphasizes development at a comfortable pace, with each step designed to build confidence and mastery.
